Feronia limonia, or Wood Apple, is a moderate-sized, deciduous, slow-growing tree native to India that reaches up to 9 meters tall. It has a rough, scaly, and spiny bark with sharp spines on its twigs. The leaves are dark green, leathery, and slightly lemon-scented when crushed. Small, reddish or greenish flowers bloom in loose panicles, followed by large, hard-shelled, round-to-oval fruits.
