Description

The gambari tree, scientifically known as Gmelina arborea, is a large, fast-growing deciduous tree with a straight trunk and a wide, shady crown. It features a distinctive whitish-grey, corky bark that sheds in thin flakes, large opposite leaves that are glabrous (smooth) on top and tomentose (velvety) underneath, and showy, brownish-yellow flowers in terminal panicles. The tree produces obovoid, leathery yellow fruits and is valued for its high-quality timber, medicinal properties, and use in paper pulp, construction, and as an ornamental tree.
